Naples, New York is located approximately four miles south of Canandaigua Lake. Although it is among the smallest communities in the state, this area (known as Grape Country) is one of the most treasured destinations in the Finger Lakes Region. Blessed with a unique geographic location and fertile land, the Naples area is an ideal spot to grow grapes – a tradition that was started in the 1840’s by a single land owner who planted 150 grape vines on a nearby hillside. Much of Naples’ esteemed past can be traced back to that historic event. Today, Naples is well known for many unique features. First and foremost, there are seven roads into Naples and they all boast spectacular views. There are three wineries to explore, along with some very unique shops. The Naples Grape Festival attracts 80,000 people every fall, at which time the beauty of the fall foliage is unrivaled. The Worlds Greatest Grape Pie contest, featured on the Food Channel, takes place that same weekend. Pie bakers in and around Naples sell an estimated 70,000 grape pies every fall. Other unique features of this quaint community are its award winning summer theater (Bristol Valley Theater), Joseph’s Wayside Market, Grimes Glen, the Naples Hotel, and the display windows at the historic Vierhile’s Appliance Store. Plan a get-away to relax Naples and stay in one of its many fine Bed and Breakfasts!
